Decided to do a facial restructure of the male since we already have the male model (even though it may change). I felt that it'd be a good idea to do this before tackling the females again, even if I don't draw them again any time soon.
Remember kids, us artists have lives and we can only do so much.
Anyways, I've had the cheek muscles of pandas pointed out to me. They do indeed have very well developed cheek muscles, which means they have very well developed zygomatic arches (cheekbones). It's my opinion that because these are humanoid pandas, they would most likely have much more obvious arches (like humans) than their real world counterpart.
Also, cheek muscles aren't the only things that allow for crushing and grinding. Spotted hyenas, for example, are able to crush bone even though their cheek muscles are not as large as panda cheek muscles. This is because they have specialized teeth and thick zygomatic arches like the panda.
great work as usual. As far as skull reference I believe the sloth bear has a remarkably similar skull structure to panda? they have meany skulls you can find on the web I have an old anatomy of preditors book that has panda skulls in it, they are very close to sun bears, sloth bears.
Brilliant work here. The base you've created can spawn lots of facial options like you've demonstated. And those ears, I can really picture those swiveling about. I know Blizz has a certain style to keep up but it was versatility of the goblin faces that made them popular.
And yes, the goblins are an excellent example of customization! Hopefully they give that much attention to the older models when they decide to revamp them.
