Just a couple of fast dwelling concepts for my 'Northerner' Draenei. Even though they're quite tech-y and inventive, they still use what nature has to offer, and make sure they are not hurting the environment too much.
For those that don't know, I've been filling in the gaps that Blizz has left in the Draenei culture and lore. I've decided to split the Draenei into two racial groups; Northerners and Southerners.
Northerners are peaceful, and highly intelligent and creative. Their culture centres around love/sex, art, philosophy, literature, inventions, and community.
Southerners have a warrior-like culture, where males are dominant and most females are simply political and social pawns, unless they can prove themselves as warriors. Their culture centres around strength, fighting, technological advancement of weaponry, and climbing the social ladder.
When I look at the tree, I can't help but thinking that they took a seedling and deliberately shaped it as it grew. (Draenei are long-lived, after all.)
Hmmm...tree moulding is quite an interesting idea.
I like the idea of them living long, but not 'forever,' as many people like to say. I've always felt that the whole 'immortality' or 'ridiculously long life' trope is a little bit of a cop-out. "Oh...um let's make them live a really, really long time so we don't have to retcon stuff," is the feeling I get from it.
For the night elves it makes sense. They had that huge Well of Eternity that both sped up their evolution and gave them immortality, but for Draenei I've always thought it would make sense for their max age to be around 500 (in this case Southerners: 200 yrs. max and Northerners: 500 yrs. max), and those that are 'immortal' are the ones picked by the Naaru/light for special purposes.
I'd never have left and would have flown around there for good

However, the idea that they were in some sort of magical stasis on Oshu'gun is not necessarily ruled out.
I've seen the stasis and cryogenic freezing ideas come up a few times. It's a good couple of ideas that a lot of people don't think about.
